Oleshkivski sands Oleshkovsky Sands (Ukr. Oleshkіvskі pіski) - sandy area (sand arena), located in Ukraine, 30km east of the city of Kherson.
The array has a size of about 15 km in diameter. Oleshkivski Sands is the largest sand massif in Europe. They consist of endless dunes (the locals call them "Kuchugury"), a height of about 5 meters, and sparse vegetation.
Earlier Aleshkovsky sands was a military training ground, where pilots practiced bombing of the Warsaw Pact. In this regard, a scientific study was limited region. Until now, the sands are a large number of unexploded shells.
