Bridge over Hoover Dam

According to Hoover Dam motorway is 93 (Route 93), lying in the meridional direction and connecting Arizona to the Canadian border.
Part of the highway adjacent to the dam does not correspond to the value of line and volume of the traffic.
The road has only one lane in each direction, streamers coming down to the dam, it includes some steep and narrow turns, as well as places with poor visibility; the road is subject to landslides.
The situation should change with the expected commissioning in late 2010 of a road bridge - Hoover Dam Bypass - through the Black Canyon.
Four-way (two lanes in each direction), high arched concrete bridge will connect the upper part of the canyon at 0, 5 km downstream from the Hoover Dam.
This road will be straightened and shortened, as it gets rid of streamers coming down from the west and east in the Black Canyon to the Hoover Dam. The length of the bridge - 700 meters height above the Colorado River - about 300 meters.

The bridge consists of two parallel reinforced concrete arch, bent up and rest against the shore, which are based on the vertical pylons used to support the upper spans of the bridge roadway. As of January 2010 erected two parallel lower arch bridge with pylons rely on them, as well as half of the roadway of the bridge. Also completed the construction of the west (from Nevada) and eastern (Arizona) approaches to the bridge - it will soon begin spryamlёnnoy asphalt road. After the terrorist attacks September 11, 2001 the movement of vehicles across the dam was limited. Some types of vehicles are subject to mandatory inspection prior to travel in order to eliminate trafficking in explosives and other inspected periodically. For trains travel banned - they are sent to a detour across the bridge in the town of Laughlin, Nevada. That prompted the adoption of such measures to accelerate the implementation of the project of building a bridge across the Black Canyon bypassing Hoover Dam with a significant shift in terms of it. On the construction of the bridge near the Hoover Dam, and will report under the cut. (photo bridgeathooverdam.com)
