Oil gushing thousands of barrels into the sea

The accident in the Gulf of Mexico, where, after the explosion and sinking of the drilling platform on the water formed a huge oil slick, the first such disaster in the history of mankind. To eliminate it, as experts note, you may have to use extraordinary means, and consequences of emergency may be forced to revise plans for the development of oil production offshore.

Last month, during a controlled explosion "British Petroleum" oil rig Deepwater Horizon killed 11 people, sank the platform itself, and in the sea were hundreds of thousands of liters of crude oil. It is still not possible to repair the damage to the mechanism of the borehole, so the oil is poured into the ocean, according to various estimates, at a rate of 25 to 50 thousand barrels per day.
