The history of Pyatigorsk is the resort town begins with 1803. In 1894 the city paved the railroad, which dramatically increased the influx of tourists. Since the beginning of the XX century began construction of a new type of medical institutions - health centers, hotels and clinics. In 1920, the first in the country Balneological Institute, which became the scientific methodical center of the Caucasian Mineral Waters. In 2010, it became the center of Pyatigorsk created the North Caucasus Federal District of the Russian Federation.
