The latest development of BMW
BMW at the last stages of testing the automated cruise control system ConnectedDrive Sonnect that uses GPS, radar sensors, lidar sensors and video cameras to determine the position of the car on the road, which is placed as well as the surrounding objects (vehicles, etc.). Driving on the highway, cruise control system can independently, without any driver intervention, to overtake another transpotnogo means moving at a slower speed.
Currently, development is being tested on the streets, in urban environments. When activated ConnectedDrive Connect, BMW can independently, without the driver moving at speeds up to 130km / h. The vehicle constantly scans the road ahead as well as 360 degrees around. Once in the "view" sensor gets the car moving at a slower speed, the system ConnectedDrive Connect instantly determines the best option SECURITY overtaking and maneuver.
Once committed overtaking, the system returns a BMW in the lane on which she moved to maneuver. If not enough space on the road to perform safe overtaking system protormazhivaet holding Safety distance between BMW and another vehicle.
Currently, this technology is not quite ready to start mass production, but as they say representatives of BMW, it is at the last stage and passes all sorts of tests. Currently completed mnozhesvo tests, as well as on the roads in real urban environments (completed about 5,000 km.).
