Hamilton Pool (Pool Gameltona)
Hamilton Pool (Pool Gameltona) formed when a cave over an underground river collapsed about a thousand years ago, when this was created by a waterfall and grotto, where you can swim. Hamilton Pool is an excellent example of a typical geology Balcones Canyonlands and Edwards Plateau. The pool is located near the Pedernales River and Hamilton Creek in southwest Travis County.
There is evidence of Tonkawa and Apache tribes it is a very old lake in these neighborhoods. Interest tribes was attracted to this place because of its lush vegetation, abundant wildlife, and the natural cover provided by the grotto. In 1860, Morgan C. Hamilton bought this piece of land. His brother, Andrew Hamilton, the 10th governor of Texas, in whose honor and was named the pond.
