The two-week Belka on ice

Photographer naturalist Bassega Eric (Eric Baccega) went to the Gulf of St. Lawrence (Quebec, Canada) to shoot two weeks there young Grenadian seals (pups).

In recent years, is believed to be due to a thin layer of ice due to global warming, in the Gulf is not so much young. After all, without a solid ice, it does not even knowing how to swim, do not survive. But the photographer was able to find a place where they can be removed and a three-day and two-week whitecoat pups near their mothers.

Unfortunately, despite numerous protests by animal protection organizations and the absence of a specific need, seal hunting in Quebec still exists, and each year the government allocates the quota for the killing of thousands of seals.

Now these white kids in a relatively safe, according to the laws they have no right to kill. But if they gain weight 40-45 kgs and start an independent life, they can be killed by hunters.
