Aircraft Curtiss P-40, 70 years
23 photos
In 1942, the aircraft Curtiss P-40 made an emergency landing in the Sahara desert. Chassis jammed and the plane sat on the belly, having passed more than a hundred meters, losing the screw and fuselage. The pilot climbed out of the cockpit, and vanished into the sands of history. There are suggestions that it was James Francis "Stocky" Edwards, Canadian ace, but this assumption is based only on the serial number of the aircraft. 70 years later, the plane was found and he was in fair condition
