The first association that came into my head in the village of Khatanga (Taimyr) - the word "nostalgia": a wooden Airport, "rovers" in the streets, dusty coal road, half-dead port ingrown into the land barge hotel with shared facilities, crumbling buildings and sky-high prices in the shops.
In Khatanga we arrived on the old Yak-42 to transfer to the more old MI-8 helicopter and fly over the river Kotuikan on which we floated on the raft for 10 days. It was an unforgettable journey through the inaccessible areas of the country. To help you understand the history of the Earth on Kotuykane were fewer people than on Everest.
Today I begin the story of this adventure ...
In Khatanga lives a little more than three thousand people. The name is translated from the Evenki as "Big Water". This is one of the northernmost settlements in Russia:
