In south-eastern Turkey, near the city of Van, on Monday were recorded aftershocks of magnitude 6, 1, reported the US Geological Survey. The epicenter of the tremors was located 20 km north-west of Bath, its center lies at a depth of 9 km.
Earlier in the same area a strong earthquake of magnitude 7, 2, which, according to official confirmation, claimed the lives of over a hundred people, but the authorities have suggested that there may be hundreds dead.
