Died legendary cosmonaut Valery Kubasov

Last Wednesday, on the 80th year of life died member of the famous program "Soyuz-Apollo", twice Hero of the Soviet Union cosmonaut Valery Kubasov. Let us recall the merits of the famous astronaut. Kubasov graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute in 1958, and in 1966 entered the cosmonaut corps, where he remained until 1993.

Kubasov made three space flights. The first - in 1969 as a flight engineer of "Soyuz-6" program, the world's first group flight of three spacecraft. During the flight, the world's first experiments were carried out on welding in space.

The second flight from 15 to 21 July 1975 as a flight engineer of the spaceship "Soyuz-19", together with Alexei Leonov. During the flight was first performed in orbit docked ships from different countries - "Soyuz-19" and "Apollo" (USA).
