Ice and Snow Festival in Harbin

In the Chinese city of Harbin today opened the 28th in a row festival of ice and snow. The event attracted a lot of visitors for its fireworks and colorful illumination of a magical city of ice and snow.

The emergence of the idea to hold a similar event, obliged to a long tradition, which is characteristic of the northern part of China. In winter you create ice lanterns, which were recorded candles. Now, of course, we are talking not only about the flashlight. We have before us a ton of ice and snow, transformed by human hands in the castles, skyscrapers, pagodas and other architectural forms. Ice blocks are cut from the frozen waters of the local Songhua River. Organisers predict at least 800,000 visitors to the festival for the time of its operation.
