A flexible display from a sheet of paper

Experts from the Institute of Informatics max Planck Society (Germany) and Department of Media Lаb at the Massachusetts Institute of technology (USA) demonstrated an unusual imaging system that allows you to turn into an interactive display... with an ordinary sheet of paper.

The complex, which is called Flеxpad made of hardware and software. The first included a projector and a Microsoft Kinect controller, which hangs from the ceiling above the user. Kinect monitors the position of the hands of the person holding the sheet of paper, and can also determine the transformation of the improvised screen in space. Data is removed from the camera and Kinect depth sensor, which is made of an infrared emitter, combined with a monochrome CMOS sensor (enables to obtain three-dimensional image in any natural light). The projector will form a static or dynamic image on the sheet display.

In its current form Flеxpad has some limitations. For correct operation of the system to the user, which keeps the screen was in a certain area of the room, which is sent to the projector and Kinect sensors. In other words, move around the room does not work, although in the future you can implement this functionality.
