Amazing sculpture made from 8080 colored pencils

During the celebration of the centennial anniversary of the University of Minnesota School of Architecture Variable Projects invented installation, called Centennial Chromagraph — sculpture, which represents all of the historical moments of the institution for 100 years in full size. Design is made out of a hundred of the guides ribs from plywood which are connected at 8080-th colored pencils.





The project required data collection and detailed analysis of the activities of the school for 100 years. Then this held a special calculations that allow you to make a sound sculpture, which can stand as long as possible, assuming that every student wants to touch her.





Curves in the design according to the authors, were a historic period for the University (the connection of new lands to the territory of the training center, the construction of new buildings, expansion of staff). The color of the pencils reflect the evolution of the educational programs of the school for many years.







We remind you that the Chinese artist has created the labyrinth of 3144 bicycles.
