Ingredients chocolate prevent obesity and diabetes

The beneficial properties of chocolate have long been known: decreased appetite, improve thinking, lower blood pressure. Now they added another advantage: certain ingredients in chocolate can prevent obesity and diabetes.



Andrew Nelson and his colleagues fed the mice various diets including high fat content and addition of various flavonoids. The researchers found that oligomeric procyanidins have the greatest impact on the conservation of rodents weight, even with the most nutritious diet. In addition, experimental mice have improved glucose tolerance. That is, these components are quite suitable for prevention of diabetes. The researchers concluded: "Oligomeric procyanidins, apparently, have the greatest efficacy against obesity and diabetes, among other flavonoids of cocoa, particularly at low doses".
