On the website Cultural studies.Russia, we often talk about the beautiful places where you can spend an unforgettable vacation. One of these resorts – oasis Huacachina in the Peruvian desert. It is located just 8 km from the city centre, but surrounded by huge sand dunes, so the travelers the impression that they were in the heart of Africa.



Huacachina is a small settlement, home to just 100 people. It was built around a small natural lake. Originally traveled here on vacation wealthy families from the nearby city of ICA, but in recent years, frequent travelers not only from Peru but also from other countries of the world. The main attraction in Huacachina – skating on the so-called "sendbatch", snowboarding, designed for sand.

 



The main source of income for local residents – tourists, therefore the infrastructure is developed at a high level. Comfortable hotels, cozy restaurants, a variety of greens – it all looks a fairy tale on a background of endless sand dunes.

 



The rise and improvement of the oasis accounts for 1940-50-ies, when they began to travel the whole of the Peruvian elite. A new surge of interest in this resort was founded in the 1990s, in that time turned a massive advertising campaign. Today Huacachina is the best place in the world for sandboarding and riding a dune buggy, off-road vehicles, designed for riding on the dunes.

 



Despite the fact that tourism brings a good income, "demand" has led to a gradual drying of the lake. To date, the oasis is supplied with water from other sources to prevent ecological disaster and to prevent the extinction of this wonderful place. Traditionally called Huacachina "oasis of America", as it is one of the few natural oases that have survived in North and South America.
