The Chinese company Geely has bought British electric car and hybrids

In late February, the group Zhejiang Geely Automobile announced the acquisition of British electric startup Emerald Automotive. According to representatives of the Chinese company, the deal will extend the capabilities of Geely in the field of creation of new generation of taxi, including with the use of electric drive.
One of the conditions of the transaction was the investment in Emerald Automotive $ 200 million over the next five years to create and implement electric mobility technology. At the moment engineers Emerald Automotive has developed two electric van, production of which should start soon at the plant in Missouri (USA).




Geely already owns Swedish automaker Volvo, a year ago the Chinese bought the main assets of the company Manganese Bronze Holdings, which in turn is owned by London Taxi firm – the manufacturer of London black cabs.

The Chinese authorities increase the rate of electrification from year to year: by 2015 on the roads of the country will travel 500 thousand cars, and by 2020 this figure should increase to 5 million
