“Gaming landscape”, constructed from natural materials have become very popular in Western Europe. In contrast to traditional playgrounds for the children, they are no swings and slides. Instead of the unlimited possibilities of games and experiments with stones, sticks, leaves and streams. Scientists from the University of Cincinnati and the University of Washington confirmed that a specially designed game environments positively affect the health and development of children.

“Game environments” is a children's Playground with plenty of greenery, which is built entirely of natural materials. Game environments specifically plan so that playing children could be creative, to satisfy my own curiosity, to develop physical and social skills.

Victoria Carr Director of the Center for family studies and education from the University of Cincinnati and Eleanor, Lukan from new York University analyzed data collected in many countries by scientists who studied various aspects of the game on the gaming landscape. The results of their work were published in the scientific journal International Journal of Play.

Experts say: today, when children less and less time playing and, in particular, outdoors, the game environments are simply not interchangeable. “We found significant advantages of the gaming landscape over traditional playgrounds. After playing on special landscapes, kids can learn: the basics of natural Sciences, basic math, even the basics of nounificatory. This allows you to attract children to science, technology, engineering and mathematics at a very young age,” the authors of the study.

The article presents data from Sweden, Austria, Germany, UK. They all say that children spending time on the gaming landscape, not only develop faster but also feel more alert and less likely to suffer from depression and attention deficit disorder.

"Game environments allow children to play, create a pleasant atmosphere for play, promote development, but at the same time are safe. Parents don't need to worry that kids will get injured, as often happens in nature,” write the study authors.
