Anger is a means to relieve stress

The expression "let off steam", i.e. to remove internal stress, giving vent to emotions, to his irritation and anger, exists in almost all European languages. And for good reason – apparently, the centuries-old experience of mankind has long absorbed the observation that "discharge" from negative experiences much easier as the angry man. However, the same century of experience dictates the need to comply with the so-called "good manners" and to hide their feelings and experiences.

Scientists say that when a person gives vent to his anger, his brain changes that occur with positive emotions. Outbursts of anger are a good means of relieving stress Professor Neysa Guerrero (Neus Herrero) from the Spanish University of Valencia (University of Valencia) had an interesting experience. He invited to his laboratory 30 men and gave them cards of different degrees of negative emotions ("angry", "irritation", "anger", "rage", etc.). Each subject received a card, read the word, denotes a negative emotion, and tried to remember a situation in which he had a chance to relive that feeling.

Participants experience before the experiment and after measuring the pulse, blood pressure, levels of two so-called stress hormones – testosterone and cortisol. There was also a brain scan. Naas Guerrero found that when you experience the state of anger in the subjects of the greatly intensified activity of the left frontal lobe of the brain. But scientists have long known that this part of the brain aktiviziruyutsya when you experience positive emotions, while negative emotions associated with right frontal lobe of the brain.

Thus anger led to de-stress and experience positive emotions. A scientist comes to a paradoxical conclusion: it turns out that restraint, the ability to carefully hide and suppress the resulting feelings of anger is not healthy: people who are overwhelmed by heavy internal emotions, but carefully it hides much more at risk of developing serious cardiovascular diseases and even death from them.
