Aston Martin to equip race cars with air conditioning solar

Global automakers consider it a great honor to put your race car in one of the qualifications of a daily marathon series of Le-Man's Edition, but they have to be in connection with this remarkable ingenuity to squeeze in a fairly rigid framework of the rules of the international Federation FIA.

For example, the British brand Aston Martin is involved in endurance races the first year, but while much of the success is not earned. Looking for new ways to increase fuel economy of cars (which plays super marathons if not the key, but very important role) the British came to the idea to use to provide electricity to auxiliary systems of solar panels, which are lightweight and do not occupy a seat in the engine compartment.

According to the Director sports team Aston Martin of John Gow, the British brand is currently in the championship endurance race WEC series GTE race car, qualified in the prestigious category GT.

According to the strict rules of the FIA, all the cars of the GT class in a mandatory fine should be in the equipment list air conditioning as in the cabin of the car during the race the heat is negatively affecting the pilot. However, the AC for its work takes some energy from the engine of the car, worsening thus the lap times and duration of mileage on one filling.

In this regard, the Aston Martin engineers came up with to power the air conditioning from an independent source of energy, namely, solar panels installed on the engine cover of the car. For help, the British turned to one of the major manufacturers of solar cells, the company Hanergy, and the result of this cooperation, the public will learn at the next stage of the world championship WEC, which will be held in July in Texas.

To the current super marathon in Le Mans, which took place last weekend, the Aston Martin GTE race car with solar panels was not ready yet.
