Amazing mechanical sculpture of a horse from Adrian Landon

Brooklyn artist Adrian Landon in his childhood was very fond of LEGO. Also he liked the horse because his father was a veterinarian and an avid Polo player. It is childhood memories nudged Adrian on the implementation of the incredible project to build a mechanical sculpture horse in full growth. I think you certainly will be impressed by the result of his efforts.

Work on all-metal installation began in 2013. Then the artist has created several sculptures of horses with no moving elements, to better understand the anatomy of the animal. Unfortunately, the knowledge of Adrian's engineering was pretty bad, so he started studies in this direction from scratch. First sketches of the future sculpture on paper, then the study of how horses move and, in the end, the hard work in the application of 3D CAD.

By trial and error the artist managed to create a drawing of the mechanism, imitating the realistic movements of a real horse. The number of unsuccessful models were sent to the trash can in the development process, but the final result exceeded even his own expectations.

When creating the sculptures was used more than 100 bearings, gears, cut with a laser, about 10 meters roller chain 23 and the elbow joint. All of this is driven by a small electric motor. published
