China creates own equivalent of GPS

Alibaba signed an agreement with Norinco, a Chinese weapons manufacturer, on the creation of a global positioning service using Chinese GPS alternative —Beidou. The two companies have invested more than $ 310 million in a new joint venture that will use the Beidou satellites to provide navigation data to local companies.

This event is another major step in the fight against the country's dependence on American GPS and occurred two years after starting the service of Beidou for vehicles of heavy payload and smartphones. It hardly affects those living and doing business outside the Asia-Pacific region, but the development of the service is closely monitored: by 2020 Beisou will be available for users worldwide.

To date, China has made 23 successful launch of navigation satellites, and 20 launches planned in the coming years. On 25 July of this year rocket "long March 3B" was put into orbit two satellites at once. In addition, recently the system has been integrated by expertise, accuracy of measurement at the moment is less than one meter. published
