January 16 launched a new winter festival in Handan, north-eastern China. More than 600 fans of winter swimming from all over China, including Beijing, Heibei, Shandong and Henan provinces, arrived to take part in the festival. One of the highlights of the event were Chinese chess, in terms of which the player sits in a huge container with ice. Also, people swam in the lake of ice water.
