The world's first bike path with solar panels

The "Sunny Road" cost the Dutch in 3, 74 million dollarov

in the Netherlands will soon be 70-meter bicycle path that incorporates solar panels. The official opening is scheduled for the 12th of November. Bike Path will be the first "solar" expensive in the world.

It is - only a small part of a big cycling track Krommeni town, about 25 km from Amsterdam. Bike Path consists of square concrete panels, equipped with solar cells: each module is covered with a thick layer of tempered glass.

The panels look fragile, but can easily support the weight of the truck. They are reliably recorded, and it is a plus and a minus: so they generate 30% less energy than the sun set on the rooftops bataeri. To track working on solar maximum, the battery installed in the corners - so rain will wash off the mud.

The project entitled "Solar Road" cost $ 3, 74 million led by the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research. By 2016, the ninth year it is planned to extend the bicycle lane to one hundred meters. By the time the track should provide enough power to light three houses.

The next three years of the bike path will observe scientists: it is necessary to determine exactly how much energy it generates. If all goes well, it is planned to install solar panels on 20% of Dutch roads, to provide energy or electric lights.
