Inside an abandoned psychiatric hospital

Photographer Darryl Morgan made terrible pictures in an abandoned mental hospital in Laurel, Maryland. The hospital opened in 1925 and was closed in 1991 due to ill-treatment of patients. This institution practiced such therapies as treatment of shock, hydrotherapy and lobotomy. The hospital had its own cemetery, the dead were buried in the garden of patients in unmarked graves from 1928 to 1982.
