Fusadziro Yamauchi: founder of Nintendo

November 22, 1859 was born Fusadziro Yamauchi. In thirty years, he developed a card game and started his own game company. At that time, Japan had imposed a law banning foreign playing cards: the authorities did not want to illegal gambling spread in the country. The law was supported by about 250 years in 1633, and managed to get around it by creating Yamauchi own deck of cards - "hanafuda". As you can see, Nintendo also begins not with game consoles.

On the cards in the deck did not have figures, animals and birds were used, the tape with the words, images of the moon, phoenix and so on. Deck of cards has 12 suits of 4 cards consists of 48 cards. Each suit - a month of the year, which corresponds to the plant: hence the name - "hanafuda" translates as "flower cards". They were drawn by hand. In 1907, the ban on foreign deck type was canceled - 270 years it remained in force. Nintendo started producing maps in a foreign style, first to export, and then they settled down in Japan. By the way, selling cards in tobacco shops, which Yamauchi signed an agreement with Japan Tobacco & Salt Public Corporation.
