Yesterday, on Sunday, April 5, in the Japanese city of Kawasaki, near Tokyo, held a traditional festival Kanamara (aka - Utamaro). This festival is held every spring, it is timed to coincide with the beginning of flowering and celebrates fertility. Festival Kanamara (Kanamara Matsuri) held since the beginning of the XVII century to 1868-th year. Then there were 130 years, and anathema of oblivion. But in the last decade tradition of these festivals in Japan it was revived - already under the slogan of struggle against AIDS. Traditionally, Kanamara Matsuri is held on the first Sunday of April. The culmination of the festival comes at a small temple Hachimangu wakame, which was built in the Edo period (1603-1868). According to legend, this temple was built at the expense of Japanese prostitutes.
