The fastest boat

When five years ago there was a Bugatti Veyron, speed of more than 400 kilometers per hour seemed unthinkable. It is one thing to race as fast on a perfectly flat and straight road, and the other - to develop 400 km / h through the waves. It sounds like a joke or a fantasy too daring futurist. Meanwhile, the fastest boat in the world really exists.

The creators of the 56-foot boat Phenomenon did not hide the fact that the project was conceived with the sole purpose to beat the previous record for the speed of the water craft. Before the tests in "Phenomenon" was dispersed to more than 402 km / h, this record was too much - 354 km / h. Unfortunately, the customer miracle boat did not have to experience the ecstasy of the unique control vessel. Renowned restaurateur and millionaire Al Copeland began to hatch plans for the creation of the "phenomenon" is still in the 80-90-ies of the last century, when it was the owner and part-time driver racing team Popeyes Offshores. He also created the prototypes and turbines that allow "phenomenon" shoot like a pool, and the original body. However, during the construction of the boat Copeland died of cancer. The case was continued by his son, Al Copeland Jr..

Under his supervision engineers of the Navy United States (those that usually carry out orders NASA) developed four unique turbine. And now attention! It can not be kept from a further comparison, the "phenomenon" with the Bugatti Veyron. The creators of "Veyron" is still proud that the power of its engine is 1001 liters. from. Another figure for comparison, the power of the turbine engine Rolls-Royce Trent 900, which is installed on the biggest passenger aircraft A380 is 63,000 liters. from. And in the four turbines of the "phenomenon" live 12,000 (twelve thousand) "horses". Reminder: this is not a plane, or even on an oil tanker, but the not-so large quadruple boat
