Artificial reefs of our planet

Artificial reefs - is deliberately flooded in water objects which populate the underwater inhabitants.
Generally reefs are created to increase the tourist attraction places for divers, as well as creating conditions for the development of underwater flora and fauna.
One of the most active creators of artificial reefs is the Association of British Columbia (ARSBC)

USS Oriskany (CV-34) - US aircraft carrier of the "Essex" since the Second World War.





The aircraft carrier was launched on September 25, 1950, becoming the head ship "dlinnokorpusnoy series" "Essex".
He participated in the Korean War. In March 1954, one of the jets made an emergency landing due to which there was a fire, the vessel received minor damage.
"Oriskany" took part in the Vietnam War, he has made 10 military campaigns.
In 1976 he was decommissioned, and in 1979 became mothballed and written off in 1989 and later sold.

USS Oriskany sank 24 miles off the coast of Pensacola, Florida, May 17, 2006. 275 meters long aircraft carrier sank in 37 minutes. The ship was the largest artificial reef and attraction in Florida, attracting thousands of tourists, divers. Coordinates: 30 * 02'38 "N., 87 * 00'25" rear



USNS General Hoyt S.Vandenberg - American military trucks for transportation of military units of the US Navy during World War II.



Displacement 17,250 tons, length 162 meters, during the Cold War, in 1961, was transformed into a missile defense ship, decommissioned and retired from the Navy in 1986.

The second life of the ship began May 27, 2009 USNS General Hoyt S.Vandenberg flooded to a depth of 45 meters near Kay West, Florida.

Cape Breton - one of a series of vessels intended for operation of the British Pacific Fleet in the war against Japan and colonization of Asian territories built in 1944.

The length of 134 meters, a displacement of 9500 tons.
Long-term efforts to find a peaceful application did not succeed, and October 20, 2001 the ship was sunk near Snake Island.

Chaudiere - Destroyer 111 meters long, with a displacement of 2900 tons, sunk December 5, 1992 near the town of Sechelt, Canada.

5. Mackenzie - Destroyer 111 meters long, with a displacement of 2900 tons, sunk 16 September 1995 near the island of Gooch, Canada.

6. Columbia - Destroyer 111 meters long, with a displacement of 2900 tons, sunk 22 June 1996 near Maude Island, on the River Kembpel.

Coordinates: 50 * 08.031 'N, 125 * 20.152' W



Saskatchewan - the destroyer, built February 16, 1963, 111 meters long, with a displacement of 2900 tons, sunk 14 June 1997.

Coordinates: 49 * 12.96 'N, 123 * 53.070' W



Yukon - the destroyer, built by May 25, 1963, 111 meters long, with a displacement of 2,900 tonnes,

flooded (Bastille Day), July 14, 2000 near San Diego, California.



G.B. Church - a cargo ship sailing in coastal length of 53 meters was built in 1943 in England. It flooded August 11, 1991 near the island of Portland, United Kingdom.

The Boeing 737 - the plane, mounted on three-meter poles simulating flight that allows divers to swim under it.

Instead, the nose fairing installed mask red sea urchin that used in abundance was driven in a place flooded glider. Flooded January 14, 2006.
