Belarusians have to pay for maintenance in prison.
The government of Belarus has issued a decree according to which the cost of maintenance in prison to be assigned to the defendants themselves.
The decision specified that the costs are reimbursed for the content of a person placed in a specialized detention facility, voluntarily or "indisputably on the basis of executive notary».
The amount of payment is 325 thousand. Belarusian rubles - about $ 40. The paper did not specify for how long the accused stay in jail charged that amount and whether release of payments to those who would be innocent.
According to the National Statistics Committee, in 2012 in the penitentiary system in Belarus detained 28,841 people. 17% of this amount - in pre-trial detention.
