An autopsy could not establish the exact cause of death, therefore, was required to conduct additional toxicological examination, the results of which has been declared the official cause of Ledger's death - acute intoxication due to the combined action of analgesics (including opioids), sleeping pills and tranquilizers (oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxilamine).
The body of the actor was sent to Australia. February 9th, 2008, he was cremated and buried at home in Perth on Karrakatta Cemetery.
