tragic story, chilling soul. A group of nine young, strong people this accident literally "smashed to pieces." Six cold - died from hypothermia. Three others died from severe injuries - Lyudmila Dubinin bilateral fracture of the ribs, Alexander Zolotarev - unilateral fracture, Nicholas Thibault Brignole severe head trauma ... closed head injury (fracture of the skull, discovered only at autopsy anatomist) even at Rustem Slobodina killed from the cold. At the time this story shocked the Sverdlovsk and, especially, the Ural Polytechnic Institute, where I studied the dead boys - graduates and undergraduates, enough experienced hikers, skiers. Rescuers have found their tent - tent with food and equipment was abandoned and very noticeable snow. She stood on the hillside Bathrobe-Sjahyl (1079) - "Mountain of the Dead" is translated from the Mansi. Some fatal force compelled them to leave his camp, to go down to the woods, at a distance of just over a kilometer. In this case, the tent footprints led down - they were without shoes. And there, in the woods were killed ...



The first group of five members, including the team leader, rescuers found at the beginning of the search, in late February. This group was somewhat scattered, - two (George Krivonischenko and Yuri Doroshenko) were at the bonfire residues, and the head (Igor Dyatlov), Zine Kolmogorov, and Rustem Slobodin - a few at a distance and from the fire and from each other. Presumably on the way back to the tent. All five were killed by freezing.



Four others (Lucy Dubinin, Alexander Zolotarev, Kohl Tibo Brignoles and Sasha Kolevatov) were separately in the bed of the stream under a thick, 4-meter layer of snow. They were found later, in mid-May. Here, three died from severe injuries, and Kolevatov - Frost (based on expertise).

Why some fragments of clothing Dubinina and Zolotarev had traces of radioactivity.
