Irradiation in the laboratory

Anatoli Bugorski - a man whose head has passed through the beam of charged particles

Anatoly Bugorski was born in 1942 and worked at the Institute of High Energy Physics tenured researcher. Bugorski was responsible for the largest Soviet particle accelerator U-70. July 13th, 1978, Anatoly spent working to rectify the fault occurred in an accelerator, but due to the fact that did not work or was not turned on the security system, the accelerator fired a beam of charged protons in the moment when he was inside. The beam passed through through the left hemisphere of his brain. As he later said, he saw a flash "brighter than a thousand suns", but it does not not feel any pain.

After the accident, the left half of his face began to rapidly swell Anatolia and swollen beyond recognition. Over the next few days, began to dry up and flake is the track on which the beam was traveling at the speed of light. The beam entered the back of his head, went through the skull, brain, and went through the left nostril. It is believed that he had received a high dose of radiation, which was to kill a man. He was rushed to a hospital where everyone was expecting his death.

However, Bugorski survived. He even defended his PhD. All ended without any harm to his intellectual potential, but after the incident, he comes quickly fatigue from mental work. He also completely lost the hearing in his left ear, and began to constantly hear the noise inside the head. The left half of his face was paralyzed due to the destruction of the nerves. In principle, he could live quite comfortably, but occasionally it has had convulsions and seizures.

Bugorski continued to work at the Institute, and served as the coordinator of physical experiments. He has a wife and son.

But the most surprising is that after the incident, his left side began to resemble an old man, and his right hand or on how many are not grown old. The right side of his face as if frozen in the age of 36, when it occurred to this case, and even much younger.
