About 1600 years ago, the Temple of the Night Sun was blood-red beacon that could be seen for miles. He was decorated with giant masks of the Maya sun god, who appears in the form of a snake, or the jaguar bloodsuckers.
For a long time the church was lost in the jungles of Guatemala, but in 2012 was discovered by archaeologists who have shown their true face. This finding allowed the researchers to learn a lot about the ancient Maya civilization.
