Corning announced the completion of the development of antimicrobial glass Gorilla Glass, пишет The Verge. The company, whose glass is used in a variety of smartphones, said it has developed a new glass in the last year, but decided to officially introduce the product at the exhibition CES.
The exhibition will demonstrate the antimicrobial properties of Corning Glass visitors. According to the company, it is "the world's first registered with the EPA (Office of the US Environmental Protection) i> antimicrobial protective glass" will prevent the spread of algae, fungi, mold, fungi and bacteria.
The secret of the new Gorilla Glass is the use of silver ions, which are embedded in its structure at such a level that it does not interfere with the image quality and durability. Since silver is used in the whole structure, Corning claims that its antimicrobial properties will be valid throughout the period of use.
New glass is currently being tested by various manufacturers and obviously will soon be integrated into smartphones, tablets and other touch devices.
